It's time we start thinking about how we're going to change our judicial system to take care of the residents and taxpayers in Allegheny County for the 21st century. We need to make meaningful reform to protect the modern-day working people of Pittsburgh.
My goal is to use my reform experience restructuring the Allegheny County government and apply it to judicial reform specifically within the jail. In my years of experience serving on the jail oversight board, I noticed a large portion of inmates were arrested with mental health issues or drug and alcohol addictions. I became a vocal proponent of a larger effort to rehabilitate these inmates rather than incarcerating them using new and more efficient methods such as utilizing I-vision technology with probation officers. This differed from the outdated method of putting people in jail with jail guards, ultimately costing the taxpayers needlessly. We need to make more use of our diverse human service department for the treatment of the inmates and try to reduce the jail population.
I have the experience in reformation to accomplish these goals, now all I need is your vote!
